Udeshi Hargett is a certified violin teacher with 18 years of teaching experience. Udeshi earned her degree in violin performance and teaching from the prestigious Royal Schools of Music, London. Her kind, nurturing attitude and enthusiasm for teaching makes learning fun and easy for her students. She enjoys teaching both children and adults.

Udeshi uses the traditional and Suzuki methods in her teaching. As a result her students not only learn to play the violin by ear, they also learn to read music from the start. She incorporates ear training and listening exercises which is important to a student's musical development. Udeshi customizes each lesson to fit the student and their individual needs. Whether your child wants to learn the violin for fun, to play pop songs, or to be an orchestra, Udeshi will help them reach their goals.

She travels to your house for the lesson saving you valuable time and money. If a parent would like to sit in and listen during a lesson, Udeshi welcomes them to do so. Students progress much faster when the parents play an active role and encourage them to practice between lessons. Udeshi teaches both children and adults. Udeshi's Mommy & Me classes are very popular with moms and children. See the different types of lessons below. Please contact us below to get more info for your desired type of lesson. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have. If you would like to speak with Udeshi right away, call her at 252-292-1307 or e-mail her at info@RaleighViolinist.com. Udeshi teaching a Mommy & Me lesson

FAQ's:

Q: How old do you have to be to start playing the violin?

A: You can start as early as you would like as long as the student is old enough to comfortably hold the violin. Typically 3-4 olds and up can do this. Now they make super cute small violins (1/64th size and up) to fit the toddlers. The benefits of starting your children early on the violin is numerous. My youngest student to date is Three years old. I have had students from 3 years to 72 years. My lovely 72 year old student learned to play the violin as therapy.

Q: How much do violin lessons cost?

A: Please contact us below to get our exact pricing. Generally one 30 minute violin lesson can range from $30-65 The price varies depending on a number of factors including location, the experience and education level of the teacher, and if the teacher comes to you. 30 minute lessons are a good fit for beginners and small children. For more advanced students 45 minute or 60 minute lessons are recommended.

Q: How fast will I learn to play?

A: It all depends on how committed you are. The more you practice between lessons the faster you will learn. Generally in a few lessons you will learn to play simple songs.

Q: Can you teach me to play songs?

A: Absolutely. Many of my students love playing popular songs in addition to learning classical music.

Q: When can I do a recital?

A: It usually take about one to two years to be ready to perform at a recital. I have had some exceptional students that have done it sooner.

Q: How often do I have to practice?

A: 20-30 minutes twice a week is advised. If you can devote more time, you will improve faster.

Q: Can I take music lessons if I don't have a violin yet?

A: Yes, you can!  I teach music in addition to violin lesson. You can do virtual or in person lesson to learn music. You will learn music theory, rhythm, listening and music appreciation which builds a strong foundation. A few students who didn't have access to a violin have started this way. These students progressed fast once they were able to buy a violin and learn how to play, because they are already familiar with the basics. If you do not want to learn the violin, you can continue to learn music. Music is a whole new language and there is a whole lot to learn.
